my week, according to the photos i've taken.

I've had such a busy week this past week and this one is even busier (albeit less exciting). Alex and I have been enjoying the sun at every opportunity; this resulted in London adventures and lots of days in the park. I spent the beginning of the week putting the final touches to my new look blog-what do you guys think? We had another busy Saturday with friends and our own indoor bbq on Sunday. This week I'm at work all the time so I'm sorry if I don't get round to blogging all that I want. Enjoy the sun, have a good week.

british museum.

So here it is, our afternoon at the British Museum; Alex and I had never been before and the fact that we stumbled upon it by accident made it even more exciting for us. We spent a good 2-3 hours there and still didn't cover it all!

lunchtime.

The other day Alex and I decided to go out and do some more sightseeing of London; we've lived up here too long now to not explore the city more often. We went to the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery before finding a park for a spot of lunch. We also decided to have a wonder with no real intentions of going anywhere but we ended up at the British Museum (posted here).

my week, according to the photos i've taken.

This week our main thing was going to the Tower of London; it was so much fun and the weather was good too, always a bonus. We also went shopping on the Thursday and I did an impulse buy (very unlike me) and bought some lovely shoes. The last time I bought some nice flats they ended up destroying my feet, they still do but I don't have the heart to throw them out as I'm trying to fix them. These new ones do not hurt my feet at all and I love them, gotta use the student discount while I still can right?! We also put some stuff up on ebay and it actually seems to be doing alright. Alex also made me a sign to go in our kitchen; I will get round to making the big piece of art that I want for the kitchen I just can't seem to find the material for what I envision. Anyway, I hope you all have a good Monday.

tower of london.

On Wednesday, me and Alex went to one of my favourite places in all of London; the Tower of London. I adore the place, whether it is actually being in the place itself or just walking alongside it; it just makes me feel happy, and albeit slightly nerdy.
I am a huge history nerd, especially the Tudors; and so seeing Henry VIII's suit of armour and the place Anne Boyeln was beheaded is fascinating to me. It was Alex's first time there and I hadn't been instead there since I was 12 so it was a long time coming. If any one is a history buff or just want an interesting afternoon in London then it is well worth a trip.

when the weather's fine.

While it may seem like it will never come, I have still composed a summer wish list; although looking at it, it could easily be a winter wish list too. It seems pretty fitting for the weather we're having at the moment.

1. Boyfriend t-shirt from asos || 2. Navy slouchy cardigan from topshop ||
3. Black skinny jeans from topshop || 4. Coral shoulder bag from river island

sushi dinner.

Alex and I had another busy Saturday but this time we got to visit instead of being the hosts which was so nice. My friend from work invited us around hers for some sushi, wine and a night of good company. We went on until quite late in the night and it pretty much ended with us singing along to Blondie as loud as we possibly could! I love going out and visiting new places, bars, etc but sometimes there is nothing better (especially if you're all strapped for cash) than buying a couple bottles of wine and staying in.

my week, according to the photos i've taken.

This week seemed like it was pretty full on but also very relaxed; if that makes any sense whatsoever! The beginning of the week I was still in work mode as I had to go to Brighton for a training day. It was very long and quite boring but on the plus side me and a couple of friends did go explore Brighton afterwards. As you would have seen from my post here we just walked along the pier, but still it was nice to enjoy a little bit of it instead of being stuck in a room and on trains all day. Although I've still had work it's not full on like it usually is and it's not as often so I've had time to just relax and sleep. Lovely lovely sleep. I've caught up on rubbish tv, not had to rush to do anything and of course, do my favourite thing that is baking. Alex and I also went over to a friend's house this weekend for some food, wine and a good catch so watch out for that post this week.

dahl's doughnuts.

When I was younger my dad and I made doughnuts from this recipe book. Now, seeing as I don't live at home any more and haven't got the book with me, I thought I'd go online and search for the recipe; the hardest thing to find- so I got my mum to send me the recipe (and hopefully the book in the post).

For those who don't have the book, this is the recipe for Farmer Bunce's Doughnuts (from Fantastic Mr Fox without the foie gras!!)

Ingredients

100g soft brown sugar
50g unsalted butter
1 egg
450g plain flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
good pinch of salt
2 tbsp hot water
1/4 tsp vanilla essence
4fl oz milk
vegetable oil for frying
caster sugar for coating

You will also need

2 plain round cutters, one bigger than the other to make wholey doughnuts
cling film

Method

1.Cream butter and sugar.
2.Gradually add the egg.
3.Add the remaining ingredients; the dough should be fairly stiff but smooth.
4.Wrap in clingfilm and fridge for two hours (ideally you could do this overnight, or if you're short of time like I was put it in the freezer).
5.Divide the dough in half and put the remaining half back in the fridge.
6.On a floured surface roll out dough to 1/4 inch and cut out as many doughnuts as possible.
7.While this is happening, heat your oil until it starts to sizzle.
8.Fry in small batches and drain on kitchen paper.
9.Finally, place some caster sugar in a bowl and coat your doughnuts.

And now me and Alex are off out to a friends and we're taking these with us as dessert. Enjoy your Saturday night.

beside the sea.

Yesterday, I had to go on a work trip to Brighton; it was the first time I'd been so to be stuck doing a training day instead of exploring wasn't ideal but me and a couple work friends went to the sea afterwards. We didn't stay long as we had to trek back to London, however, it was nice to go someone new and, lets face it, iconic. I do want to go back but next time I want to plan out what we/I do if we go...I already spotted the crazy golf place-that might just have to happen!

We even went home with the holiday makers essential gift: a stick of rock!!
