autumnal.

I know a lot of people have been saying this recently but this really is one of my favourite times of year, okay maybe November is my very favourite but we're still close. In fact, autumnal is my favourite word.
The nights drawing in, snuggling up in many blankets with my hot water bottles and a giant mug of tea. Everything seems better in autumn/winter; home cooked food tastes better, the air seems fresher and clearer. I can tell you now how much I love this time of year...roll on October!

today's day off.

Today I:

# Had a lie in, until the phone rang.
# Wanted to go somewhere until I realised how cold I was.
# Searched for frames in our local charity shops.
# Had a lovely bacon sandwich made by Alex.
# Drank tea.
# Watched a Disney film.
# Moaned that my next day off isn't until Saturday.
# Cleared out loads of things from our wardrobe.
# Wore a scarf all day (but not my chunky one, not just yet).

i love you in the morning...

I love weekends; I love Sundays. I've never hidden my love for Sundays (here) but most Sundays I work (boo). Sunday before last was a perfect one and very much reminded me of home. We shopped, watched a family film and ate a roast, followed by a homemade pudding. It's safe to say we were all sleepy after that and pretty much rolled our way into bed! It was lovely- all that was missing was a nice warm fire and the dogs sleeping in front of it.

This Sunday was a good one too, if I ignore getting out of my toasty bed to head to work. The evening was filled with more homemade food, good friends and a few glasses of wine. And the heating was on...cozy and a little warmer! I need all my Sundays like these.

my week, according to the photos i've taken.

It's been a busy old week; Alex found out that his degree was a 2:1-after such a long wait, we're very excited and so to celebrate we went out for dinner at our local curry house and it was lovely. We also got ahead of some of our Christmas shopping. We're trying to spread the cost, and let's face I love Christmas so any opportunity to buy Christmas things is good for me! I also was very lucky to see my mum again. She was in London with friends and asked me and Alex to meet them. We met for some food and drinks and it was lovely (albeit very cold as we were sat outside). I'm due to see mum and dad next weekend as they are near us again before their holiday. I love that I'm getting to see them each week, not once every three months!

a train traveller's companion.

Although I didn't end up buying too much in Windsor I did manage to buy my notepad that I was talking about the other day (here). I got a lovely one from Paperchase and it has already been used. I have to admit, I only used it on the train today, but it's great for putting all my ideas down etc. It's been pretty good so far and has helped me plan loads more when it comes to blogging than I usually do. I've also hidden ideas for Christmas in there too; I'm sure general ideas and plans will also follow.

a royal day out.

Last Sunday, armed with slightly sore heads from the night before and money to spend me and mum headed off to Windsor. Even though I live so close it was the first time I'd been. I'd wanted to go for ages and mum and I wanted to go somewhere new. Windsor it was...and it didn't disappoint.

We didn't seem to buy very much but it was nice just pottering around (we visited Eton too). There were some lovely shops filled with everything that I love; it's actually surprising why my purse wasn't empty and my shopping bags full, but still.
I'm definitely going to go back there to explore more- do the gardens and peak around the castle more. I'm hoping that they have a Christmas market or something there as I can imagine how beautiful it will be decked out in fairy lights.

my week, according to the photos i've taken.

The end of the week was a really good one; my mum came to visit. We drank too many cocktails, visited Windsor, ate a lot of food, talked lots and just chilled out. It was lovely, and I'm sure you'll be reading her visit very soon. Besides that it's been drinking more tea (it's got cold enough to warrant more cups now) and baking for charity. The mornings and evenings have also started to get darker and I'm loving it... I do need to head out and buy some more lamps though!

mumma's in town.

My mum is on her way and we're spending a few days together; a little bit of shopping, a couple cocktails and just general hanging out and catching up. It's nice to have her visiting, I feel like I need it a bit- I'm feeling a bit scrambled at the moment. It's never the same having long conversations over the phone or texts to anyone, mum or friends, when you can do it over cocktails or some lunch. Besides good advice, we have a right giggle together. Last time she visited with dad for graduation, we ended up with tears streaming down our faces and nobody knew why except for us. Roll on the weekend and the next couple of hours. Have a speedy train journey mumma!

ever wondered...

... what people on trains write in their fancy black notepads with black inky pens? Me too, and I want to join their club! I don't need an excuse to buy stationery, but seeing as there is no school year for me to start I seem to be missing out. So it seems that to fill that gap I'll just continue to buy stationery anyway, this time finding a lovely little notepad.

Then my train journeys can be filled with:
- blog planning.
- shopping lists.
- Christmas planning.
- general doodling and ideas.

Then people might look and me and think 'how mysterious, what is she writing in her black notepad with her inky pen?'

my week, according to the photos i've taken.

Such a productive and just nice week. I got a gorgeous new watch (thanks Alex); I'm in love with it, and it was the one off my winter wish list (I also own the leggings from it, they didn't cost anything though as we made some money from ebay, hence all the parcels). Besides that I seem to have been living some kind of the good life; incorporating countryside walks in the middle of the suburbs, and busy motorway, along with domestic life and a lot of soup making. I for one think it was a great week spent; now onto the next. What did everyone else get up to last week?

a weekend of what-to-do's

(image via polish-my-crown)

I never usually have a whole weekend off due to work but this weekend and next I do. I couldn't be happier about it, and reaffirms that I really do need a Mon-Fri job, but for now I'll just relish in the next two weekends being completely mine. Next weekend my mum is coming for a girlie weekend but this weekend is all empty and unexpected and so what to do? Although it is glorious weather, Alex is working and then heading out after work with friends, so I plan to bring out the inner domestic goddess in myself during the day, to sit down with a well deserved glass of wine this evening. What are your Saturday/weekend plans?

a little bit of countryside.

Well not completely like the countryside but there was a river, woodland and wild flowers so it was a bit of an escape from pounding the pavements. It was so nice to go out and get some fresh air, and enjoy the last of the summer.

my week, according to the photos i've taken.

It got chilly and then it got all hot again, why can't it just be winter already! I've had some me time and enjoyed a few drinks with people from work. I'm still trying to be good with money for my mum's visit in a couple of weeks, so I've got some new reading material to keep me busy in the mean time.
