carving.

Alex and I don't really do much for Halloween but this year we thought we'd join in the 'norm' and carve our first pumpkin together, and Alex's very first pumpkin! I'm pretty pleased with this fella- glittery red blood and all! Happy Halloween.

Fall.

My friend taught me such a clever way to remember which way the clocks go: 'You spring into summer and fall back into winter.' I love the saying and I love that it's pretty much winter. These months are going to be good, I can tell. Happy Winter Everyone!

my week, according to the photos i've taken.

I've spent most of this week trying to stay warm and failing. We need a better heating system and I need more clothes. It also doesn't help that my body seems to be unable to ever be warm itself! Besides that, it's mainly been work and starting to organise myself for Christmas a bit more. Going to do a bit more shopping tomorrow and then, hopefully, I'll be pretty much done.

box it all up.

I love putting together lots of little things to make something whole and this is what Alex and I have been doing. A lot of our Christmas gifts this year are going to be hampers/gift sets of some kind. I thought I'd share a couple more ideas with you (my other make can be seen here).

Film Hamper

Alex and I have done this gift for two different people and so have mixed it up and changed it for both. For his family, it is a romantic night in; including a rom-com, mini love hearts and Christmas popcorn (I have, obviously, yet to make this but it looks awesome!) and for my family- a family film night. They always spend their Christmas Day watching films so we've included a Christmas film, sweets and, because it has to be posted, a mini bag of popcorn, just waiting to be popped. I love making this kind of gift; you can change it for some many people; girls night in with face packs and chocolate, boys night in with an action film and a case of beer.

New Year Hamper

My original idea for this hamper was more like a hamper with all things needed for a New Year's Eve party but it soon changed. This person has a big year ahead, settling into a new home with a baby on the way and so we put together a hamper to reflect this and how big the change will be for him! We've made it a fun by including things like, a party popper to start the New Year with a bang; detox teabags, coffee for the future sleepless nights etc.

I'll be posting more of our Christmas makes all through the winter months (most probably after Christmas too- I don't want to ruin the surprise for anyone!). I love this time of year so Christmas posts will become more and more common :)

1. Cardigan. || 2. Knitted Dress. || 3. Jeggings. || 4. Blazer.

While on my trip to Richmond, I went into River Island and my goodness, I could have made a huge dent in my bank balance. So many things I like; I don't know whether to treat myself or start hinting about Christmas presents!
The knitted dress (although with my height I'm guessing it'll be a jumper!) is my favourite and I think if present buying goes well then I may just treat myself to an early present. I just think it is so perfect to make smart or casual. I think it's safe to say I'm in love with it!

my week, according to the photos i've taken.

A week filled with everything; the gloves came out (those mornings are chilly!) as did my coat- I'm pretty pleased that I've made it to the end of the month and the coat has only been worn twice. We've had a bunch of cozy nights in, with me trying to finish my book, but mostly snuggled under the duvet watching boxsets. We've also had days and nights out; the zoo, followed by cocktails, a perfect way to spend any Saturday I reckon. And finally, a boys night in, with the girlfriend that had no where else to go so watched them fire up the xbox, then got bored and went to bed! How's your week been?

yes, i do end up facetiming the dogs.

: One in three dog owners say they have talked to their pet on the phone.”

My mum sent this to me a while, adding the fact that I have in fact done this! I have also face timed my pets as well. Whenever I ring home I seem to end talking to my dogs for longer than my mum. I swear though, those dogs know it's me and their little ears prick up when they hear their names. So instead of a ten minute quick phone call; I end up on the phone for half an hour, but who can say no to a face like that?!

Yesterday:

# I felt very fancy and efficient sending a bunch of emails and making phone calls.
# Got held up at work, missed my train and so bought new shoes.
# Had an early shower.
# Snuggled under the duvet, on the sofa and read my book.
# Had cheesecake for pudding.
# Woke up lots because of the pouring rain.

Today:

# I helped my friend finally understand the tube; that northbound means you're going north!
# Got excited that it's midweek and almost the weekend.
# Had mine and Alex's friend around for dinner.
# Bought insoles for my new shoes so I can wear them in tomorrow.
# Left the boys playing video games.
# Felt very sleepy.

i'm terrible at goodbyes.

My parents came back from holiday and my dad came to stay before he had to fly out again due to work.  It was a great 24 hours. My dad is truly great at advice, general chats, hugs, lunchtime drinks, tea drinking and everything else in between.
While he was here we went for a little bite to eat, a couple of drinks and a long chat (it might have been a shorter visit to the pub if it hadn't had started raining, but I doubt it!). It was a lovely afternoon spent; one that winter weekends should be.
It really was the shortest of visits but he's promised to come up again in the New Year so I'm going to hold him to it!

my week, according to the photos i've taken.

I've had a long and busy week; but this weekend, made up for it as I got to see my dad. I had a very early start this week because of work; last time I had starts this early (here) it was summer and not too bad, this time though I woke up and it still looked like the dead of night. I think Alex knew I needed cheering up this week and so he bought me Ronnie the Reindeer; chocolate and Christmas-can it get any better?! I also took a little lone trip to Richmond yesterday. I'm didn't really wanna venture out on my own but the weather looked nice and autumnal and I didn't want to spend the day cooped up in the house. It was a nice couple of hours out and I managed to pick up a few gifts etc.

X

As you may have read, I've been trying to make Christmas a bit more homemade and personal. It's also meant getting a lot more organised and prepared but that's fine by me.
I'd thought I'd share one of my projects with you (don't worry, no one will find out their Christmas present this way). These little gifts are for my cousins. I use to make lots of little cross stitch things (or big cross stitch things if I go back to the time I made my gran a cushion cover out of cross stitch) when I was younger so thankfully I was able to pick it up quite quickly again. It's quite relaxing- once I'd turned on a brighter light so that I could see what I was doing!

I've made their initials and now that they're finished it's time to go bargain hunting for some little frames to add the finishing touches to their gifts.

Without bragging, I'm actually pretty pleased with how the homemade Christmas is going and how organised Alex and I have become with it all. We've just finished a couple of hampers and so I will show you them in the next couple of weeks, especially since the Christmas countdown is well and truly on!

my week, according to the photos i've taken.

Not too many pictures; but I did do a far bit. Yes, Christmas things may have been involved but I've actually got into the autumn. Cozy nights in, comfort food (check out the recipe for the sausages here, they were delicious) and the heating starting to creep on. Alex and I also got Glastonbury tickets; I'm very excited. I haven't been for a few years and I'm so looking forward to going back. How was everyone else's week? I hope it was autumnal and cozy.

glastonbury.

I didn't write, tweet or talk about this too much in case I jinxed it but after a long battle with queues and website crashes I finally got through and I finally got Glastonbury tickets!
I couldn't be happier (I may have squealed when I actually got to the booking page); I've been twice before and it was amazing. In fact, the first year after I went that I couldn't go I refused to watch it on tv and sulked around the house for 4 days.
Not this time! Alex is coming too this year; he's never been before so I can't wait to explore it all with him. Now to start tent shopping.

# that I must stop eating chocolate.

# bad that I haven't blogged that much this week.

What better way to spend an afternoon than with a friend, drinking tea, planning to watch films but instead talking for hours.

my week, according to the photos i've taken.

It's gone all wintery and I love it.The leaves have started to fall and I'm wearing more layers and thicker jumpers every day. This week, we've been planning more Christmas and winter things, and my parents came up for a quick stop over before going on their lovely holiday. This week I'm just planning more of the same; cozy nights in and a lot of tea!

Okay, so I'm terribly sorry that this is a day late; my parents came to stay before jetting off on holiday so my night got consumed with going out for dinner and a lot of laughs.

# To have lots of cozy nights in.
