blogging break.
(image via pinterest)
I'm taking a break from this little blog of mine. My laptop is on its way out, which is making it harder to blog but I'm also running out of steam with it. I still love to read all these blogs and look at loads and wish mine was like them. I started it when I was still looking for a 'proper' job and that I have that job I want to come home and chill out and spend my spare time doing things for me and not feeling like 'oh maybe, I could blog about this' so, for now and maybe longer, I'm off.

lovely girl won't you stay.
The other week I was very lucky to go and see The Lumineers. My friend had a spare ticket and I jumped at the chance; after seeing them at Glastonbury I knew I had to see them again. It was great, their support band were incredible (Phox, for those wondering) and being in a smaller environment meant that I could really appreciate those Southern gents more than I could when I was in a field. The atmosphere was great and the whole place felt quite cosy; I think it helped that there were giant chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, but hey ho (see what I did there). Going to gigs always makes me want to book a million more tickets to see loads more bands. I use to see so many; maybe it'll be something that I aim to do more of next year.

my week, according the photos i've taken.
This week (well last week now-you can see I'm editing slightly) has been good, and this weekend has quite possibly been one of the best ones I've had in ages. This week I caught up with a friend and had a fab dinner, went to a comedy club, got to the final stages of booking a holiday, slept a lot and got asked by a friend if I wanted to see the Lumineers this week. Can we just repeat it all over again?
This weekend was pretty good, Alex has now openly stated that Sundays are my day as I 'just know how they should be.' I swear people have got it the wrong way round; it's suppose to be 5 days off and 2 days working right?! I'd be cooking, taking walks and film watching non stop!

just along the thames.
A few weekends ago Alex and I were invited to a past colleagues' wedding reception on a boat. I was not going to pass this opportunity up, I boat party up the River Thames. It completely poured it down all day but luckily the boat was not open and so we stayed cosy and, more importantly, dry!
The decorations were great too; little scramble messages dotted around the boat a long with poetry books and photos from their grandparents' wedding days. It was lovely to go to, and I'm glad Alex got to come along...oh, and the cupcakes and food was delicious!

gbk
My goodness, why hadn't I been here sooner?! With a cheeky little deal found on my phone and some time to spare before the cinema, Alex and I headed off to the Gourmet Burger Kitchen and it was scrummy.
I enjoyed everything, to their special salt on the skinny fries, to my amazing ginger and lemongrass fizz. They had all the giant windows open and so it was nice to lap up the last of the heat before my favourite seasons kick in. Even then it'll be great to go there; who can say no to a giant, mouth watering burger?
^ mmm, yummy fizz ^

I may have cheated...
I may have made it from a box but it was pretty tasty and loads of fun making all the swirls. And topped with some left over frosting from my when I made my Dad's cake; well we were on to a winner. A perfect pud for a Sunday after our roast.

Walks to make me feel better. Yummy breakfasts. Office dog for the day. A temporary gym buddy. Wedding fun. Just a few things that have filled up the past couple weeks.

sometimes on a sunday.
^ Sunday morning's breakfast was pretty good too ^
Sometimes you just need a Sunday roast; today is that day. We had initial plans of inviting some friends round and having a traditional family afternoon lunch, instead, we scaled it down. That's right, we made it just us (I feel like saying 'and the dog' which would just be perfect, but we can't have one just yet). We had a typical Sunday, of a late start to the day, strolls, films football and hearty lunch. Next time I swear will be more welcoming and invite people (we did have people over on Friday so we haven't been complete recluses this week), I mean its fast approaching autumn, which means it'll be perfectly acceptable to cook a roast every Sunday.

seeing in september.
1.mink skirt. || 2. tartan trousers. || 3. silver stacking rings. || 4. black jumper.
These are just a few items that I want to buy (and soon). Autumn is fast approaching and I think these are the perfect September clothes to slowly ease back into winter before the really thick knitwear is found and the many many layers are worn.

my week(s), according the photos i've taken.
For the past couple of weeks I've been ill (I still am); it is never any fun. But even less when you have to organise a trip home, including baking and carrying a massive cake home to Devon. I even thought I'd be super fit and go to the gym lots and that was wiped out. Still, copious of honey and lemon aside, last weekend was great. I haven't been home since January and so it was great to see everyone. Even the rain didn't dampen my spirits...and there was a lot of it! This week I was spontaneous and went for another trip home; it was lovely and the fresh was helping me feel a lot better...cue coming back to London, being sent home from work and working from home today. I've stocked up on so many vitamins, cough medicines and anything else that's to hand in the hope of getting better and soon. This can't run into it's 4th week can it?!

yo!
Why haven't I been sooner?!
After a spot of shopping with my mum we headed for lunch; we already knew where we were going and my goodness we couldn't wait. So much so that we appeared a bit too keen and arrived pretty soon after the doors opened. We could have spent a fortune and so I think we were pretty restrained...this time. I loved the conveyer belt and choosing all the things off it, although we were close to needed a bigger table (I told you, we only had a little restraint). This place is going to become a regular of mine, I can sense it.

tlc in devon
This post was going to read something along the lines of not doing much and having a little pampering session this weekend but its now, all of this but in Devon.
After going months without going home, I am now going home this weekend; that's 2 weekends in a row. I'm not great at doing impromptu things as I'm one for planning and not rushing, but I've thrown all that out the window and off I go. I think it's really an excuse to see the dogs again.

theatre buff.
The other week I was luckily enough to have my Friday and Saturday nights filled with theatre trips.
On Friday I met up with my bestest and went and saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in Covent Garden. It was fine; I've seen better. Neither of us were sure about it, I think my friend summed it up right when, as we were leaving the theatre, she turned to me and said 'well...I'm not quite sure what to make of that.'
Saturday, however, I can only give glowing reviews for. The Daily Fail was funny, witty and intelligent. I realise it's hard to compare it to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when The Daily Fail is a satirical take on the hacking scandal, but I suppose the characters of Willy Wonka and Rupert Murdoch share the same slightly crazed, humorous trait. This play is going places though (I have it on good authority from my friend the director) so if you see The Daily Fail advertised, get your seats and enjoy.

and off to devon we go.
(image via pinterest)
I am counting down the hours until I get to go home today.
It means I get to spend a half day at work and then to wonder to the train station, find some kind of lunch and then settle down and read for the train journey. God, that actually all sounds dull doesn't it?! I actually love travelling though- I get so excited, especially since I haven't been home since January.
And you see that beautiful site up there ^^,
well I get to see that, of course, it's on my way to my local pub!

by the riverside.
I really love strolling along the river when its nice out. It was so cloudy when we first headed out so by the time the sun hit I was melting in my jeans. I seem to make this error a lot. We had a little wonder before deciding that jeans really were bad and headed for home.
You can hire rowing boats and go up and down the river. I'm convinced that I'd get stuck and people will have to come and rescue us. Alex assures me it'll be fine and so if the weather gets nice again I think we're going to head out on the river.
